Puerto cops launch ‘Oplan Pasayod’ vs erring cops
The Internal Affairs Service ( IAS) of the Puerto Princesa City Police Office ( PPCPO) launched the “Oplan Pasayod” recently to solicit reports and information from the public on the involvement of police officers in illegal activities.
Chief Inspector Joel Monsanto, officer- incharge of PPCPO- IAS, told Palawan News on Monday that Oplan Pasayod will listen to the voice of the residents on alleged corruption and abuse of police.
“Pasayod ay salitang Romblon which means na ipaalam o iparating. Isumbong sa amin sa Philippine National Police Internal Affairs Service ‘ yong anything na mga misconduct ng ating mga kapulisan dito sa Puerto Princesa,” he said.
Monsanto said that the campaign will cover all forms of abuse by members of the local police towards the public.
Police officers are strictly prohibited to go to bars, nightclubs, cabarets, or any spot that provides and serves liquor, he said.
“Iyong mga pagpasok sa mga painuman, kahit hindi sila naka- duty, binabawal sila diyan, ngayon na naghigpit,” Monsanto said.
He added that no police officers will be tolerated inside a gambling facility, now that their internal cleansing campaign is being intensified.
“This year, ‘ yong pagpasok sa mga pasugalan katulad ng sabungan, puwedeng i- report ‘ yan,” he also said .
All this is part of our vision of internal cleansing that demands “greater integrity in the side of their police personnel, wherein proper values, discipline, morality, and clean living are necessary for the service,” he said.
A concerned citizen, however, may also report the good deeds rendered to them by the police officers, he added.
Monsanto encouraged the public to report their concerns by calling or texting their hotline number at 0905- 2272066.
He said information from the public will be of great help to the PPCPO in order to realize their aim for in- depth internal cleansing, he said.
