MARJO REYES JOINS CORON POLLS
Former Coron mayor Marjo Reyes, brother of detained former Palawan governor Joel T. Reyes, is set to challenge incumbent Mayor Ajerico Barracoso for the town’s mayoralty post in the coming local polls. Reyes filed his certifi- cate of candidacy (COC) on October 17 at the municipal office of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Coron. In a photo posted on the Facebook page of “When in Coron” on the same day, Reyes was shown raising the hands of his running mate Cliff Astor, the incumbent chairman of “vote-rich” Barangay Tagumpay, and the candidates in his slate for municipal councilor.
The page said they are Ian Astor, an incumbent municipal councilor; Jojo Enriquez, son of former Coron mayor Lloyd Enriquez; Papo Lim, son of former mayor Luis Lim; Jim Gerald Pe, former vice mayor of the town; Rica Reyes, Marjo’s daughter; Renato Correa; and youth leader Au Riceli Balbutan. The post, which has been shared 17 times, has various comments from netizens, including one who said he should first get a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance before he runs. The other comments are wishing him well in his return to politics to run against Barracoso.
