It's Rosento vs Lim in 2019 in El Nido

It will be a one- on- one all- women fight in next year’s elec­tion in El Nido town be­tween in­cum­bent Mayor Nieves Rosento and for­mer mayor Edna Ga­cotLim. Re­elec­tion­ist Rosento filed her cer­tifi­cate of can­di­dacy on Oc­to­ber 15 while Lim filed on Oc­to­ber 16. Rosento told Palawan News that her cam­paign for re­elec­tion will fo­cus on en­vi­ron­ment pro­tec­tion, pro­vi­sion of hous­ing projects, and liveli­hood en­hance­ment. “La­hat na­man ng mga gi­na­gawa natin sa bayan la­long- lalo na ang pag­pa­p­atu­pad ng batas ka­likasan ay may kaak­i­bat na shared re­spon­si­bil­ity kung saan kailan­gan nat­ing pan­tayan ano man ang ib­inibi­gay sa atin ng ka­likasan, kaya may kaunt­ing sakrip­isyo tay­ong gi­na­gawa ngayon up­ang at­ing maisakatu­paran ang ma­g­a­n­dang kinabukasan ng at­ing bayan,” Rosento said Lim who served two con­sec­u­tive terms as mayor, said her re­turn to pol­i­tics un­der the Par­tidong Pag­babago ng Palawan ( PPP) is upon the urg­ing of her town­mates. “It was a last minute de­ci­sion I made be­cause my fam­ily re­ally doesn’t like me to be in pol­i­tics again,” Lim said. She said her can­di­dacy is an­chored on the agenda of re­viv­ing the de­vel­op­ment of the El Nido tourism in­dus­try which has be­come un­sta­ble. Lim’s run­ning mate is in­cum­bent Coun­cilor Lun­ingn­ing Ba­toy, while Rosento is in tan­dem with in­cum­bent Vice Mayor Leonor Cor­ral un­der the Na­tion­al­ist Peo­ples Coali­tion ( NPC).
