- By Thessa Oliveros Correspondent

A male driver was declared dead-on-arrival at the Aborlan Medicare Hospital (AMH) after his motorcycle crashed into an oncoming commuter van at the national road in Barangay Plaridel, Aborlan Wednesday. The victim was identified as Francis Rey Agbon, 27, a resident of the same barangay who was riding a Kawasaki KLX 150 motorcycle when the accident happened. Chief Ins. Benigno Conde of the Aborlan Municipal Police Station (MPS) said their initial investigation showed that Agbon was overtaking a black pick-up truck not realizing that a white Toyota commuter van was also coming from the opposite direction at Kilometer 56 of Plaridel at 7:13 p.m. Agbon’s motorcycle hit the left side of the commuter van which was going to the main town of Aborlan from Narra municipality. “Hindi alam ng biktima na may parating pala na van, resulting to a heavy impact,” said Conde. The driver of the Toyota commuter van was identified as Marlou Pencalin, 30, a resident of Purok Masipag, Barangay San Jose, Puerto Princesa City. Conde said Pencalin voluntarily surrendered to them after the accident. “Wala pang sinampang kaso sa suspect dahil hinihintay pa ang final decision ng magulang ng biktima,” he said. Pencalin faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.
