- By Aira Genesa Magdayao Reporter

The Palawan Adventist Hospital (PAH) has launched the first and only magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the entire province last week. PAH president and chief executive officer Jun Apacible Jr. said their MRI is a 1.5 Tesla scanner magnetom sempra is excellent in soft tissue imaging and is superior over computed tomography (CT) scan, x-rays, and ultrasounds. It uses well-built magnets, radio waves, and a computer to make detailed pictures inside the human body. “The brand new machine has trendsetting applications, advance warp, TIM 4G coils, and a Quite suite [software], which make it possible now for patients with metal implants, elderly patients with pain, and even anxious patients to be examined,” Apacible said. Apacible said the new machine cost over P50 million and is only among their “starting investments” before 2019. He said they are also set to put out half a billion pesos to expand their 162-capacity bed hospital, which is the only ISO-certified non-stock and non-profit hospital in the province. The PAH is one of the 10 Adventist hospitals in the Philippines and is a part of its more than 701 healthcare institutions.
