New NFA warehouse to rise in Coron

-

A new warehouse of the National Food Authority (NFA) will rise in Coron town by March this year.

Nerilyn Conde, assistant provincial manager of the NFA, said the construction of the new warehouse started this month in a lot owned by a private individual which the agency will rent.

“Meron isang kagawad ng Coron na with the assistance din ni mayor (Ajerico Barracoso) na magko-construct ng kanyang warehouse intended na for rental sa NFA. So nag-start na ‘yan, hopefully in three months magkakaroon na kami ng bodega doon,” she said.

Conde said Barracoso allowed the NFA to use a portion of the Coron Coliseum as its temporary warehouse for 2,583 bags of rice supply.

NFA-Palawan temporarily transferred their stocks to the Coliseum in 2018 after the expiration of their contract with the first warehouse they ented.

Meanwhile, Conde said the contractor of the new NFA provincial office is M. Abin Construction.

The contract signing was held on January 14 with the construction commencing immediately in Barangay Sta. Monica in the city government center.

“Nagkaroon ng meeting sa Batangas, ‘yong ating contractor. M. Abin Construction siya ‘yong nanalo sa bidding. Nag-contract signing sila kahapon and naisyuhan na siya ng notice to proceed,” she added.

Conde said the employees of the NFA provincial office are expected to transfer to their new building within the first half of 2019.

“Kung sa aming mga empleyado, hindi na ito pangarap, totohanan na… 100 percent within this year, baka half month pa lang, June or July nandoon na kami,” she said.
