Capitol offers 10% discount for early property taxpayers

A 10 percent discount awaits real property owners who will pay their annual taxes to the provincial government before April this year, provincial treasurer Elino Mondragon said.

Mondragon said the 20 percent discount which was initially offered had already ended in December last year, but they are still offering the 10 percent discount.

“Ang pagbibigay ng diskwento na 20 percent ay natapos na noong ika-31 ng Disyembre 2018 ngunit maaari pang makakuha ng 10 percent na diskwento kapag binayaran ng buo ang buwis para sa 2019 bago sumapit ang buwan ng Abril,” Mondragon said.

Mondragon pointed out they are also giving delinquent property owners the chance to pay their penalties on or before auction day. A one-year grace period will also be given to them to redeem their properties.

Real property owners may also pay every quarter until December 31 this year, but a two percent penalty will be imposed and their properties will be auctioned if they fail to meet the deadline, he added.

*** Ist Quarter – January 1 to March 31, 2019

*** 2nd Quarter – April 1 to June 30, 2019

*** 3rd Quarter – July 1 to September 30, 3019

*** 4th Quarter – October 1 to December 31, 2019.

“Katunayan may nakatakdang subastahan sa bayan ng Aborlan sa buwan ng Mayo taong kasalukuyan, kaya para maiwasan ang pagsubasta ng inyong ari-arian na di natitin- ag kailangan masinop tayong magbayad ng kaukulang buwis at ito naman ay bumabalik din sa atin sa pamamagitan ng serbisyo na binibigay ng gobyerno kasama na d’yan ang programang pang-edukasyon,” he said.

Mondragon said upon receipt of the notices, owners should take action immediately or lose their properties to interested bidders.

Earlier, the Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO) conducted public auctions of unredeemed properties in Busuanga and Coron.

Mondragon added that properties that have delayed tax declaration payments may be included in the auction even if they are still in the possession of the owners.

“Dito sa atin sa province kahit tax declaration lang ina-auction natin ‘yan. Dahil kahit tax declaration ‘yan dapat binabayaran kasi possession of property pa rin ‘ yan,” he added.

Mondragon also reminded gravel and sand companies and truck and delivery van operators in the province to settle their annual fixed tax of P500.

“May mga tao sa mga checkpoints na nanghuhuli ng mga sasakyan na walang sticker na palatandaan na nagbayad ng buwis. Kaya para maiwasan ang pagkaantala at perwisyo lalo na kapag ang ibinibiyahe ay mga buhay na hayop o mga madaling mabulok na kalakal,” he said.
