Korean nabbed for ‘child abuse’
BACOLOD City – A Korean national was charged with violation of t he Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
The 48-year-old Lee Seung Jae was arrested on Zamora Street, Barangay Poblacion, Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental.
Specifically, Lee was accused of violating Section 5 (b) (sexual i ntercourse of l ascivious conduct with a child exploited in prostitution or subject to other sexual abuse), which comes with the penalty of imprisonment of up to 40 years.
Judge Maria Angelita A. Banta-Alcoran of the Regional Tri a l Court Branch 37 ( Dumaguete City) issued the warrant of arrest against the suspect and recommended a P200,000 bail bond.
After his arrest around 4:30 p.m. on May 21, the Korean was hauled to the Zamboanguita police station lockup cell./
BACOLOD City – Two people died while another was injured after two unidentified gunmen fired at them during a fiesta in Sitio Bonbon, Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, police said.
Farmer Uldarico Alipan, 45, and Winnie Villanueva, 44 — both locals — died of multiple gunshot wounds on the body.
Villanueva’s son George, 25, was hit on the stomach and back. He was taken to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.
