2 power co-ops’ residential rates drop
BACOLOD City – Two electric cooperatives in Negros Occidental reduced their residential power rates for May.
Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) will have P10.5062 per kilowatt- hour ( kWh), P0.3494 lower than April’s P10.8556 per kWh.
Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco), on the other hand, will have P11.0478 per kWh, P0.5578 lower than the P11.6056 per kWh in April.
Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. attributed the reduction in their rate for May to the P0.2128 decrease in generation charge due to the decrease in its power suppliers’ fuel charges.
Transmission and systems loss charges also decreased by P 0.0163 and P 0.0475, respectively, Lagarde said.
In March, Ceneco’ s residential rate was at P11.1669 per kWh.
Ceneco serves Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, and Bago cities and Murcia and Salvador Benedicto towns. It holds office in this capital city.
Noneco, meanwhile, caters to consumers in Victorias, Cadiz, Sagay, Escalante, and San Carlos cities and EB Magalona, Manapla, Toboso, and Calatrava towns.
But Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco) raised its May residential rate to P8.9553 per kWh from P8.7852 per kWh in April. It attributed the P0.17 per kWh increase to the increase in generation charge.
Noceco serves La Carlota, Himamaylan, Kabankalan, and Sipalay cities and Pulupandan, San Enrique, Valladolid, Pontevedra, Hinigaran, Isabela, Moises Padilla, La Castellana, Binalbagan, Ilog, Candoni, Cauayan, and Hinoba-an towns. (
