Milibili BPAT best in WV

ROXAS City – The Barangay Peacekeepi­ng Action Team (BPAT) of Barangay Milibili bested others from urban barangays in Western Visayas, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said.

An awarding ceremony recognizin­g t he village will be held today at the PRO- 6 headquarte­rs i n Camp Martin Delgado i n Iloilo City.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronaldo “Bato” dela Rosa will grace the ceremony, Barangay Captain Midelo Ocampo said.

Ocampo and his BPAT chief Manuelito Rivera will receive the award together with other awardees i n eight other cat egories.

KALIBO, Aklan – The Aklan Engineerin­g District under the Department of Public Works and Highways allotted P1.6 billion for infrastruc­ture projects next year.

The projects include the improvemen­t of access roads leading to economic zones.

The improvemen­t of the Numancia- Lezo provincial road and the road f rom Batan, Aklan to Sapian, Capiz got P80 million each. The latter aims to support the coconut processing facility in Batan.

Barangay Milibili had the lowest crime rate among 46 barangays in this city.

T h e v i l l a g e w a s declared “drug- cleared” i n December l ast year, Ocampo said.

“Our campaigns against i l l egal drugs and i l l egal gambling were successful b e c a u s e o f o u r c l o s e c oordinatio­n with t he police,” he said.

PN improvemen­t project was endorsed by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and I ndustry- Aklan Chapter ( PCCI- Aklan) a nd t he Department of Trade and Industry Aklan (DTI-Aklan).

The road project will boost the pottery business in Lezo, said PCCI- Aklan president Ramel Buncalan.

DTI-Aklan officials visited the pot-making industry last weekend.
