My views and insights about school management

- By Joanne Joy B. Catalan, Administrative Assistant II, Commission Luis Asis National High School, Panay, Capiz

SCHOOL management is not as easy as it seems. Foremost, it needs leadership and charisma on the part of the school administration. In wider thoughts, management is defined as the practical measures which the schools take to ensure that the system of work which they use will be of the greatest possible assistance in carrying out their aims, and of the greatest possible benefit to their students.

As I have been working as an administrative assistant in a school environment I happened to see how vital and important school management is. School management composed primarily of persons it includes the professional personnel of the school or the school administration such as university presidents, principals, headmasters and the like. School management is really essential in proving learners better engagement and in producing individuals that are ready to face the real challenges of the world.

There are four aspects of school managements: management of material equipment, management of school plant, management of human equipment, and management of ideas and principles.

For an effective school management

it is important for every staff of the school to work earnestly. Since it has been divided by four aspects it is safe to assume that there is a head for every composite team thus making it easier for the school to work. But one thing I just noticed is that usually school administrators have the tendency to tap adult members of the school often disregarding the student leaders’ expertise.

Well, in my opinion school officials must try to look after the need of potential student leaders. This will not only help their institutions but also benefit the students for they can hone their

leadership skills.

What I would like to say is that this could be a good training ground for the student to equip and enhance their leadership skills. Like for instance, school administrators can have their student counterparts. This will make the learners to aspire more and will eventually make them feel what it is like to run the school.

Also, school officials can begin training the students by sending them to various seminars to improve their leadership skills. Whatever expenses the school invests will surely be gained back in terms of well-trained student leaders. My insights are mostly dealing with

how the student can be involved with the school management.

After all, it is the student improvement as a well-being that is being emphasized in every school. This will surely benefits both sides as they both introducing young bloods that could be the future of the society.

Due to their active participation in various school affairs they have now higher chances of good results. Let them be involved in planning and implementation projects in the school. With this move, the school administration and the students have now bigger chance of achievement. ( Paid article)
