REV Science LAC in action
DEPARTMENT Order No. 35, s. 216 titled “The Learning Action Cell ( LAC) as a K- to- 12 Basic Education Program School- Based Continuing Professional Development Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning” was issued by the Department of Education ( DepEd) in line with the implementation of Republic Act 10533, or the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013.
In Support to this policy of the DepEd, the Remedios E. Vilches-San Lorenzo National High School located at Suclaran, San Lorenzo, Guimaras – one of the secondary learning institutions in the Schools Division of Guimaras – established Learning Action Cell (LAC) among Science teachers.
This aims to enhance Science instruction that will improve learning among students, develop professional growth and foster collaboration among Science teachers.
The group created their Science Learning Action Cell ( SLAC) Team composed of:

The team formulated their Science LAC Plan. The SLAC session was conducted twice a month. The result of the SLAC demonstrated that through collaboration and teamwork, teaching and learning related concerns, issues and problems can be addressed and resolved. Consequently, teachers’ camaraderie was strengthened.
Lastly, the implementation of the SLAC was successful and proved to be efficient and cost-effective. Thus, the group with due approval of the School Head agreed to institutionalize the program in school. (
