The ‘Buylogonay Festival’ in our Life

- By Yolanda Y. Boladas, Head Techer I, Ivisan National High School

I SAY MAPEH is important subject because its four components ( Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health) are related to our daily lives. In fact, I consider the four subjects as one of the cornerstones of a well-rounded education.

Like MAPEH, the Buyloganay festival is also important not only to us but most especially to our students, showcasing their talents and skills typical to Ivisan culture that is characterized by the gesture of unity and cooperation.

All year round many different festivals are celebrated.

Some are community festivals that celebrate the harvesting of local produce. Others are cultural or religious festivals that are celebrated across the world.

We never cease to exist for generations in the holding of annual municipal and religious fiesta in honor of our patron saint, St. Nicholas de Tolentino every September 10. We celebrate Buyloganay with great enthusiasm.

The celebration of Buyloganay has wholesome effects for teachers, students, and for the society. It relieves us from monopoly of life, and it creates an environment of cultural harmony.

It is often said that it takes the arts, physical, and health of every participant in any festival. Yes, I agree. Students prepare their talents and skills to perfection for the performance. In effect, it develops their critical creative thinking.

As the students practice their performance, they explore time. They are learning to make predictions about when things will happen, how often they will occur and the likelihood of it happening. ( Paid article)
