3 men jailed for ‘ il­le­gal pos­ses­sion of firearms’

BACOLOD City – For il­le­gal pos­ses­sion of firearms, three men were ar­rested in Barangay Pi­lar, Hini­garan, Ne­gros Oc­ci­den­tal, a po­lice re­port showed.

They were the 78-year-old Loreto Se­govia, 47-year-old Danilo Gar­nado and 38-year-old Jake Calumba, all res­i­dents of the vil­lage.

Of­fi­cers from the Hini­garan po­lice sta­tion caught them around 11:30 a.m. on Wed­nes­day.

Re­cov­ered from the sus­pects were an M16 ri­fle with six mag­a­zines, a shot­gun with four live bul­lets and a .9mm pis­tol with 12 live bul­lets, the re­port stated.

The con­fis­cated weapons were now un­der the cus­tody of the Crime In­ves­ti­ga­tion and De­tec­tion Group in Bacolod City.

Se­govia, Gar­nado and Calumba, on the other hand, were de­tained and fac­ing charges for vi­o­la­tion of Repub­lic Act 10591, or the Com­pre­hen­sive Firearms and Ammunition Reg­u­la­tion Act./
