n a game- win­ner as West­ern In­sti­tute of Tech­nol­ogy es­caped with a 99- 98 win over Univer­sity of San Agustin in ter­tiary men’s bas­ket­ball at the 2018 Iloilo Schools Sports As­so­ci­a­tion Meet.

With two sec­onds re­main­ing, Pa­ti­zar eluded the de­fense to nail the shot that saved WIT at their gym in Iloilo City on Mon­day.

WIT tal­lied their sec­ond straight nail-bit­ing win af­ter es­cap­ing Iloilo Doc­tors’ Col­lege 92-91 on Sept. 19.

Jetly Dolientes led WIT’s charge with 22 points while Marvin Cuerbo added 18 mark­ers for the team ( 2- 0) to surge to solo first place. San Agustin dropped with a 1-1 slate.

Ter­tiary de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons John B. Lac­son Foun­da­tion Mar­itime Univer­sity cap­tured its first vic­tory af­ter a 72-66 tri­umph over IDC. Fritchard Dulce Jr. led John B. (1-1) with 30 points. Doc­tors’ re­mained win­less (0-2).

rt In the lone sec­ondary boys category A match Mon­day, St. Robert’s In­ter­na­tional Academy Panda Rock­ets cruised to an 83-69 win over Sun Yat Sen High School. Dex­ter Hans Gange and Roy Os­car Jacinto had 18 and 17 points, re­spec­tively, for the Panda Rock­ets.

Mak­ing t heir sec­ond con­sec­u­tive vic­tory, the Panda Rock­ets joined de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Hua Siong Col­lege of Iloilo Red Phoenix on top of category A (2-0).

Ac­tion re­sumes Wednes­day at the WIT gym as Santa Clarita In­ter­na­tional High School Primes (1-1) takes on Iloilo Scholas­tic Academy (1- 1) in the lone sec­ondary boys category B match at 10 a.m.

Bat­tling in category A start­ing at 11:30 a.m. are Ate­neo de Iloilo ( 1- 1) and PAREF- West­bridge School for Boys (0-2), Panda Rock­ets and Red Phoenix, and Sun Yat Sen (0-2) and Cen­terPhil Montes­sori Sil­ver Knights (1-1)./
