Malay LGU: No new site for displaced Boracay people

ILOILO City – The local government unit of Malay, Aklan won’t provide a relocation site for families displaced by the ongoing demolition of illegal structures in Boracay Island. Over a hundred illegal structures, mostly houses built on wetlands, have already been demolished, according to Rowen Aguirre, municipal executive assistant for Boracay affairs.

Boracay is reopening on Oct. 26 but as of Oct. 5 only half of this long stretch of road in the island has been concreted. Also, families displaced in the demolition of illegal structures have no relocation site.
