IN any job, cleanliness matters. It helps in making a good first impression, an impression that things will be handled professionally, and the tourist attractions are being taken care of and are in great condition which will attract even the people who are passionate about taking care of the environment.

There are different kinds of cleanliness that are needed in the tourism industry.

It starts with the front line personnel. They have to be neat and clean. They need to be mindful of their hygiene and grooming. There would be people who would judge how professional or how well would people do their job by how near and hygienic a person is.

The hair should be combed well. Bathing, putting on perfume and deodorant, and brushing the teeth is also a must.

Clothes should be washed and ironed. Shoes must be as clean as possible.

Cleanliness also matters when there is food preparation. It prevents food poisoning or other health concerns because the ingredients are clean, the cooking utensils are clean, and the utensils are clean.

We should also clean the things we use in providing the services. That includes keeping the place clean and keeping things in its proper place.

Those owners of businesses involved in travel should use their resources and time to advocate for the preservation of the environment and cleanliness in the areas they do business in.

The things we do have either an indirect or direct effect in our lives which is why businesses should also promote cleanliness in the places they do business in ( it is a part of their social responsibility).

I f the tourist spots are clean, business continues and the people of the community/city/ municipality/province they visit to can benefit from having tourists continuously because the tourists will buy from their business.

Doing the clean as you go also is a proof of being responsible. It also spares the business from getting a bad reputation of being not adherent to environmental laws. It can also involve practices that are not limited to throwing trash to the trash can and banning the use of plastic during the tour.

Cleanliness is a showing of attention to detail. Attention to detail is a proof that you strive for excellence. When you strive for excellence, excellence will come. Do all these things consistently, excellence becomes sustainable.

Great things, even in the tourism industry, start with being particular with small things. Observing cleanliness on a consistent basis is a good start. ( Paid article)
