It has been said that teachers are not only good inside the four walls of the room but also outside, and this includes sports officiating among school based-technical officials. They serve as resource centers providing a range of services to help manage and optimize performance and most importantly foster value that sports can provide. Basically, school based-technical officials aim to support the expansion of the horizon for officiating practices by serving as a screening venue for a new breed technical official and as key for strengthening sports prosperity. This is also one way to facilitate the exchange of information, and ideas and creating a blueprint for short-term and long-term outcomes for the development of school based-technical officials to come up with positive solutions to different issues and concerns for sustainability of sports.

Sports officials (umpires, referees, judges) play a vital role in every sport, and sports governing bodies, fans, and players now expect officials to maintain higher professional standards than ever before. Becoming an official is often not conscious decision for most firsttime officials. A person will be asked to help out, or see the need to take on role, and before he knows it, he is an official. For some, that first-time experience of officiating leads him to a satisfying officiating career, be it at the local level or at the regional, national and even international level. (
