Success story of Yubo Elementary School

-  By Lowena D. Tiolo

SUCCESS cannot be achieved overnight. It takes years and hard work for someone to achieve it. This is true with Yubo Elementary School. For many years the school is not a likeable place to visit. The road to our school is very rough and there’s nothing much to see around the school.

When asked if they want to go to Yubo Elementary School they would often reply “maanoka to man.” If not for exigency of duty and obligation they would rather not go to Yubo Elementary School. Previous school heads and teachers assigned in this school struggled and worked hard when it comes to academic performance and its physical aspects. Years of hard work made Yubo Elementary School what it is now.

Today, we are proud to show our success and achievements to everyone. The physical aspect of the school is very far different from the previous years. Upon entering the school you will take the 10 steps of values to success and beautiful mural can be seen ahead. This mural was materialized through Mr. Ronnel G. Tumonong’s own effort.

The structure of our covered foot way, covered court and the stage is very durable. Thanks to our architect and engineer Mr. Donirie C. Subaldo. Alongside of the foot way are the plant boxes also designed by Mr. Subaldo and was landscaped by our green man Mr. Roberto C. Nono and the Araling Panlipunan park through the hard work of Mr. Joemar Montero and the SPG officers and members.

Going further you will find a beautiful garden with varieties of plants and at the back of the school building is our vegetable garden both managed by Mr. Roberto C. Nono. The products from our vegetable garden are used for our feeding program.

We have a very unique wash area which can fully accommodate the school’s population and once the community’s water system is in operation it will soon be functional. Thanks to Sir Tumonong the man behind the project. We also have an area for the segregation of our waste. This project was done by the SAMAMAKA organization with Mr. Montero as the adviser.

Hopefully the school’s fence will be completed through the help of our generous stakeholders and alumni. Indeed when you enter Yubo Elementary School, it is just like you areentering a park.

But of course, these are not the only things we can say we have succeeded. We are proud to tell that our pupils have joined almost all the activities and competitions conducted by the Division of La Carlota City. And most of the time the school is shouldering the expenses of our pupils through our IGP which we think make us different from other schools. And in these competitions we have joined and we have won in some of them.

For the athletics we have won in the District and Division level and even got far to the Provincial level. We were 3rd runner up in English Declamation during the Cluster III Reading Camp 2018, top 15 finalist in the Parade of Costumes 2018, second place in Create, Show and Tell Contest, and champion in the Technolympics 2018 Dish Gardening Contest and was sent to the Regional Level to represent the Division of La Carlota City in Regional Technolympics 2019 competition held at Cabatuan Comprehensive High School, Cabatuan, Iloilo. Division.

We have our LRC which is a great help in the improvement of our pupils academic performance. The Science and Math equipments helped them in their lessons. There are plenty of books that are interesting and can be of use to them. We have also the projector which the teachers use in some of their lessons.

We also taught our pupils proper hygiene and nutrition through the school’s health and nutrition program. They are taught the proper ways of hand washing and tooth brushing, correct hygiene and eating the right kind of healthy food.

The DRRMC of the school is also very active. We are conducting drills every quarter. We have invited speakers that can give further knowledge to us about safety and preparedness during disasters.

Relative to these activities we instill in our pupil’s mind and heart the love for Mother Earth. We have done many activities like for instance, Tree Planting activities of the school. Proper waste is also taught to the pupils. We have garbage can that are labeled for the proper segregation of our garbage.

Despite these success and the modern technologies influencing our pupils, they did not forget the values, we teachers instill in them. As seen by the “Magalang Bow” of our pupils. They are very courteous, obedient, industrious, respectful and honest among others. These endeavors may not be possible if not for our active School Governing Council and Alumni Association.

The Barangay Council and other Civic Groups were very cooperative in every program and activities of the school. The City Government is also a part of this success. Our BE 2018 would not have been successful without these people.

Through the dedication of the teachers presently assigned in Yubo Elementary School, we know we can achieve more through the coming years. Together we will reach for the star. ( Paid article)
