THE main purpose of implementing a school garden in schools is not to produce vegetables but to bring children close to nature. Schools are a suitable place for a child to learn how to make our environment better. School gardens extend the classroom into the outside world. Involving the environment in teaching makes studying a little bit more exciting. School gardens produce many benefits for students. Young students will develop their focus and patience as they participate in school garden activities. They will also practice their cooperation and develop a close and harmonious relationship with their schoolmates and also their teachers. Students will improve their teamwork and social skills. School gardens will help them feel capable of doing things that can help the environment. New skills and knowledge in growing food will also be acquired by the learners. The students will also become healthier as they will choose healthy foods that they have grown and harvested rather than junk foods. Teachers will also have benefits as the school gardens are implemented. The teachers will have a new teaching style and tool as they use the environment as a classroom extension in teaching the students. The students will have better grades and the teachers will have an effective way of teaching. The school will also have benefits in having a school garden. The school will have a diversified and beautified surrounding which will attract more parents to enroll their child at the certain school.
