SAN J OSE, Antique – Beginning March 1, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO) will randomly inspect public utility jeepneys (PUJs) to check if minimum health protocols against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are being followed.

The inspection begins on March 1.

At a joint meeting with the Antique Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), PUJ operators and drivers here on Friday, LTO Antique di r e c t or Jovanni Gasapo discussed Memorandum Circular 2021- 2189 issued on May 12, 2020 setting regulations in areas under general community quarantine.

The PUJ passenger should pay directly to the conductor or driver.

PARENTS play an important role when it comes to the development of their children, they are considered to be the first teachers and the kids have learned a lot from them. They are called the “home facilitators” because they hold a huge role in molding the students’ characters as they facilitate their child’s learning in the comfort of their own home.

During this time when we are observing home quarantine, we have encountered a lot of changes, and those changes include the change in the education system. Many schools decided to temporarily stop traditional face to face classes and have modular learning as an alternative. This practice is quite important to keep each and every one of us to be safe from the threat of covid-19. In modular distance learning, the schools have distributed modules to every student and it should be answered at home. And because some questions and activities cannot be answered by the students on their own, the role of the parent is to guide their kids and to help them with their assigned tasks. The parents should also monitor their children’s weekly home learning plan to make sure that the students are sticking to their schedule.

The parents together with the teachers are required to help each other hand in hand in order to make education easier for the students especially on this trying times. And of course, the students should also cooperate when their parents are trying to teach them. Now, the parents hold a crucial role of helping the students with their studies without being able to compromise the safety of their children in catching a deadly disease.
