Parents’ role: Support, encouragement and motivation while using modular distance learning

PROPER and sufficient education has always been the most important and essential thing that parents can provide to their children.

Nobody has t he r i ght t o underestimate education simply because education has many advantages for people. Education means studying i n order t o obtain a deeper knowledge and understanding of a variety of subjects to be applied to daily life.

This is why, it is really important that parents are i nvolved with their children’s school life. Parent’s engagement plays a vital role in all aspect of a child’s life. A parent is their child’s first teacher and should remain their best teacher throughout life.

This is especially true when using modular distance learning as the approach in learning. Well, it is because printed modules promote self- learning wherein pupils are most often than not working alone.

Parents on the other hand, will act as the facilitator and teacher at home.

There are numerous benefits that both learners and parents can get during this period of time. Aside from giving support, encouragement, and motivation –it also creates good parent- child relationship since parents are here to stay.

Another thing is that using printed modular distance modality allows them to create good memories through studying together. By doing so, it also boosts learners’ confidence and most of the time it is a big factor in learner’s getting high and good grades.

To c o n c l u d e , p a r e n t s ’ involvement in their child’s study is crucial and necessary. So, parents out there, we must remember to talk with our children in a daily basis, let them feel that we care about them, and that we are here to listen to them. (Contributed article)
