For several years, the continuing program of the Department of Science & Technology Teacher Education Institute is unyielding in developing new strategies and creating learner-centered approaches that would enrich the l earning experience. Department of Education, thru its Curriculum Implementation Division, has implemented & pioneered partnerships and programs to better the delivery of Science concepts and competencies.
In Bacolod City National High School, the implementation of Science educational policies & programs has been at the forefront of innovation. The programs are multifaceted – touching on teacher development, l earner l earning experience, and technological advancement. The ecosystem in the department breathes of professionalism. Teachers in the department pursued continuing professional education i ncluding graduate school studies and doctorate degrees. In- service trainings were conducted to master curricular reviews and understanding of new teaching strategies.
Activities were developed directed towards easing student understanding of Science concepts and i deas thru development of localized and contextualized learning materials. Learning Activity Sheets were modified to make sure that the level of understanding of learners are achieved.
The advancement of technology has become synonymous with innovation and development. Platforms online are utilized to ease recording, use as assessment tool, employed as teaching aid to enhance learning. Appropriate trainings are accorded to teachers as well as learners to enable them to be proficient and efficient in the teaching- learning process.
Science education is an essential aspect – pre- pandemic, during pandemic, and even i n the post COVID years. The rich concepts and explorations that could be utilized in the subject will be important pieces of information in the development of every teacher, learner, and the community.
