Quality of life, societal and individual values, spiritual and material growth have all been direct outcomes of education since ancient times. Of course, with the passage of time, the form and methods of education have undergone steady and consistent change. Education was inextricably linked to religion and the social ideals of the time in ancient times. However, in recent centuries, the scope of education has vastly expanded to encompass far more than it did earlier. Humans must both educate and be educated. Education’s main goal is to maintain individual and society progress.

Education has always played a very vital role in our society and in our lives. Its process and system evolved from generation to generation, likewise its meaning, but the essence and purpose remained. Its importance, unchanged. Great philosophers and scientists defined education in different variations but at the end, the goal was and still is, shaping the learners on the best versions of themselves.

As a teacher, education always felt like a necessity; a nuisance I have to endure. Growing up, I was told to study hard so I can be successful. I grew old believing that educational attainment is the key to survival. Despite knowing that fact though, I took my education for granted. I did not listen until I realized, they were right.

As an educator myself, I realized how hard it must be for my teachers having to teach hundreds of students a day from different family backgrounds and beliefs. It is hard to distinguish right from wrong and it is harder to weigh options to opposing ideas which are neither right nor wrong.

Education is not everything in life but it gives hopes. It gives personal satisfaction and self-fulfillment especially when you gave your best and received the best outcome too. It boosts confidence as well. You don’t have to be smart to be knowledgeable and knowing things alleviate someone’s faith in themselves. It helps in a person’s character development.

A good educational background is often regarded when seeking job applications. It doesn’t hurt to have a diploma on your bag. It opens doors. It makes mirrors, windows of chance and opportunities.

Education is also a standard on one nation’s progress. When the youth of today are educated enough, then rest assured that the future of tomorrow is in good hands. (Contributed article)
