Majority of Iloilo voters young ILOILO – Pointing out the consistent pro- Ilonggo and pro- people legislations and advocacies of three- term senator Loren Legarda through the years, top leaders of Iloilo have expressed support to her return to the Senat
ILOILO – Of the combined 1,628,752 registered voters in Iloilo city and province, 963,532 are aged between 18 to 44 years old, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
To them, and especially to first-time voters, Comelec provincial election supervisor Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria had an invocation – vote wisely.
Your future rests on your vote, he stressed.
The synchronized national and local elections are on May 9.

“Senator Legarda gave so much help to Iloilo, especially amid the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. She has never left Iloilo behind. Even as congresswoman of Antique, she continued to extend her help to Iloilo,” said Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.
He described Legarda as an outstanding senator in terms of advocacy and quality of legislation for the past 20 years.

The Provincial Tourism Office reported that resorts and other tourism establishments which are mostly privatelyowned are reporting occupancy rates nearing pre- pandemic levels.
The Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary which opened on April 20 has
resumed accepting overnight accommodations yesterday, May 1.
To accommodate the influx of tourists in the next couple of months, Lacson said they are eyeing to further improve the facilities at the Mambukal Resort, which is recognized as one of top tourist destinations in the province.
“Mambukal is like a symbol of our tourism. By having a soft opening, we’re saying that we’re also opening up our tourism. But of course, we continue to ask our visitors to still practice our minimum health protocols,”
Lacson said.
Sipalay City, which is also a popular holiday destination in the province, has also started to recover not just from the coronavirus pandemic but also from the destruction brought by super typhoon “Odette” in December of last year.
Sipalay City is known for i ts beautiful beaches and breathtaking dive sites. The city also received an award during last year’s Negros Occidental Tourism Excellence Awards as the Most Prepared Local Government Unit in Tourism on COVID-19 Responsiveness./
