Sibalom records 20 dengue cases with one death
ANTIQUE – The municipality of Sibalom has so far recorded 20 dengue cases with one death this year.
Mayor Gian Carlo Occeña issued Executive Order No. 202206-IV for synchronized cleanup in all barangays to deprive dengue mosquitoes of breeding places.
Dengue is caused by daybiting Aedes albopictus and
Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that breed in clean, stagnant water.
“To prevent the spread and occurrence of dengue and other diseases, there is a need for immediate action,” stressed Occeña. Sibalom has 76 barangays. Occeña urged his constituents to particularly do the following:
* cleaning of surroundings and disposal of open receptacles
* disposal of unused bottles, cans, tires, and other containers that may hold water
* desilting drainage canals to avoid water stagnation * do the 4 o’clock habit According to the World Health Organization, individuals should suspect dengue when a high fever (40 degrees centigrade) is accompanied by two of the following symptoms: severe headache, pain behind the eyes, nausea / vomiting, swollen glands, muscle and joint pains, and rashes.
For severe dengue, the warning signs to look out for are: severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, rapid breathing, bleeding gums, blood in vomit, fatigue, and restlessness./
