360K WV learners enlist for DepEd early registration
I L O I L O C i t y – T h e Department of Education ( DepEd) in Western Visayas enlisted 360,571 l earners during its early registration for school year 2022-2023.
DepEd Region 6 information officer Hernani Escullar Jr. said the number of learners was reflected in their database as of 4:30 p.m. of May 1 totaling 360,571 but yet to be subjected to validation for the possibility of wrong tagging or encoding.
The early registrants consisted of 68,473 f or Kindergarten; 104, 400, Grade 1; 93,026, Grade 7; and 94,672 for Grade 11.
“This will serve as basis for planning and preparations in terms of classrooms, studentteacher ratio, number of modules and learning materials and other resources for the next school year,” Escullar said.
The number i s l ower compared with this school year’s 387,156 early registrants.
“As of now we have no information if there is still an ongoing encoding. But as per advise from our Planning and Research Division, schools should continue to accept the late registration forms because it could be that there was a delay or parents found it difficult to travel due to possible restrictions,” he added.
The early registration ended on April 30.
Learners from other grade levels who were not included in the early registration were automatically registered in the
next grade level.
Based on DepEd’s proposal, the school year 2022-2023 is set to start on Aug. 22.
