Where we are

-

IT’S LESS than a week to the national elections. I’m not campaigning for my Pink candidates anymore.

If you still stand by your stupid choices of candidates, that’s on you.

You are stupid “as f * ck”, as this generation would say. And there is no mercy left for you. You will rot in hell, and on this earth for the rest of your life.

*** As for me, and those trying to be literary, there is still the Palanca contest deadline at the end of the month.

I’ve been trying to write new works to be entered to the contest.

I’ve already written a few, but I feel that they are not strong enough.

Although, again, my standard could just be higher.

I mean, how many times have the judges surprised me with their choices?

I have works that I felt strongly about, and they didn’t win.

There were works that I felt were rather weak, and they got the first prize.

*** And that’s how it is with the elections. I feel that I have a higher standard. The Filipino people can surprise me with their stupidity, but that’s on them.

If my candidates win, it would be a happy surprise.

If they don’t, it wouldn’t be a surprise; it’s just going to boost my sense of intellectual and moral superiority.

*** Because six months i nto the campaign, everybody on the planet knows that there are intelligent choices, and there are stubborn, stupid choices.

When people refuse to listen to goodness and truth, and insist on their unexplainable “feelings” and “unquestionable” rights, you know that it’s stupidity at work.

When so-called “intelligent” people continue to campaign and work against their conscience for crooked politicians, you know that politics is just a game and livelihood for them.

*** And for them who suppose that there’s nothing wrong with their stupid choices and the practice of their

unalienable rights for stupidity, you know that they really don’t care about the common good, or the good of the society.

I mean, that’s how you know their choices are selfish, and selfishly stupid.

*** So, here’s the thing for me: Do what you will with the Philippines. Ruin it if you want. Make it non- trustworthy in the eyes of the world.

Make the Filipinos look like the stupidest people on the planet.

Scare away the local and foreign investors.

In fact, scare away your own intelligent people.

Let stupidity reign, and let’s see who gets the last laugh.

*** Right now, I’m planning a trip to Peru in mid-May instead of the Philippines. How cool is that? I h a d a g r e a t P i n k Ambassadorial Tour of the UK and Europe from December to February.

Three f ull months f rom December 1 to February 28.

Then I went to Mexico—

Cancun, baby!

Then I explored Iceland for a week in April.

*** I was planning a trip to the Philippines this month ( after voting overseas).

But yeah, your Covid cases are rising again while the rest of the world is already coming out of the pandemic. So good luck with that. I mean, I’m ready to get my fourth shot, my second booster, of the Pfizer vaccine. Haha.

*** The Machu Picchu in Peru is on my bucket list.

I’ve been postponing it (so I will still have a reason to travel the rest of the world).

But 2022 also looks like a good year to visit it. So let’s wait and see. I don’t know why I’m “putting my life on hold” because of the Philippine elections.

(A lot of people will question that ‘ putting on hold’ phrase because they know I’ve been living to the fullest, traveling a lot even during the pandemic.) But, in fact, that’s how I feel.

*** I’m still traveling to the Philippines before the end of the year.

There’s the 10th year of t he Peter’s Prize, and t he anniversary of The Peter Solis Nery Foundation. It’s a cause for celebration. And besides, I miss my family, friends, and fans.

*** But also, I’m smarting up some more, and planning my exit strategies.

Do I really want to retire in the Philippines if the Filipinos choose to be stupid in this crucial elections?

Wouldn’t it be better to stay in America where I am comfortable?

Wouldn’t it be better to marry a European, and acquire another citizenship?

And if I really just want to reinvent my life in my 50s, shouldn’t I be like Canadian instead?

*** I love the Philippines. That’s why I’m fighting for the better candidates in this elections.

But if Filipinos fail me with their stupidity, I’m also ready to pack my bags for good.

I mean, I’m already halfpacked anyway.

This, I will say again: The smart will survive this elections even if the stupids will win.

It is the stupids who will lose when they win.

Because they will remain stupid, with no prospects, no hopes, of ever getting smart at all.

Amen!/
