HOUSE-TO-HOUSE CAMPAIGN FOR LENI; GRAND RALLY FOR BONGBONG

-

YESTERDAY was a very eventful day for the Ilonggos. Two rival candidates for president courted them.

While Leni held a “house-to-house” campaign and stationary caravan that culminated in Iloilo City in the afternoon, Bongbong staged a gargantuan rally in Guimbal town.

Ayon sa aming bubuwit, something interesting happened along the way, particularly in Ungka, Jaro. Nag-abtanay kuno ang caravan of Leni supporters with the buses ferrying Bongbong’s supporters. Masadya kuno, with both sides chanting and shouting their respective candidates’ names.

Patunog-tunog kuno singgit “Leni! Leni! Leni!” and “BBM! BBM! BBM!” The encounter was “electric”, according to our bubuwit. Pero wala man violent bardagulan ah.

Political analysts have warned that the elections have become so polarizing and this could be carried over to the new administrations and cause political instability.

Early this week, supporters of Leni and Bongbong faced off at a mall in Makati. They chanted their candidates’ names, prompting the intervention of the mall’s security personnel.

Filipino voters are known to be passionate. So be it a house-to-house campaign or rally or any form of campaign pakulo, intense gid.

But Pinoys are also known to be compassionate. While may mga pikon gid man, most are level-headed. That nothing so violent and bloody has so far happened related to the presidential campaign is a testament to this.

May peace and order and compassion reign as voters troop to polling stations this May 9.

Say mo, Direk Wil?
