42 PDLs in Aklan to cast ballots

KALIBO, Aklan – Persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) will cast their votes inside the jail facility of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Kalibo, Aklan.

The poll body will set up special polling precincts to accommodat­e 42 PDLs of BJMP Male and Female Dormitorie­s for today’s elections.

Six qualified female PDLs and 36 male PDLs will be allowed to cast their votes.

Jail Warden Inspector Rolyn Malolos said the voting of PDLs will start at 8 a.m. inside the BJMP polling place in Barangay Nalook.

These PDLs who registered for the 2022 national and local elections could only vote for one party-list group, 12 senators, vice president and president, just like in the absentee voting.

Personnel of the Commission on Elections will supervise the elections on site in coordinati­on with the Philippine National Police and BJMP.

Malolos said personnel assigned in BJMP Aklan will cast their ballots in their respective polling precincts.

BJMP is on red alert status due to the polls./
