WIN OF ILOILO CONGRESSMEN A FOREGONE CONCLUSION
WHILE yesterday’s voting was slow and the results trickled just as slow last night, there is no doubt in the minds of the Ilonggos that all the reelectionist congressmen of Iloilo province – Cong. Janette Garin of the 1st District, Cong. Mike Gorriceta of the 2nd District, Cong. Lorenz Defensor of the 3rd District, and Cong. Raul Tupas of the 5th District – have secured new three-year terms from 2022 to 2025. Thus, congratulations!
Our felicitations, too, to the come-backing Cong. Ferj Biron of the 4th District.
While it’s true that a gentlemen’s agreement among the provincial power brokers made sure that these congressmen won’t have challengers, it is also true that they deserve to win. They work hard for their respective districts, bringing in programs and projects to their constituents in addition to their primary role as legislators.
What probably cemented their constituents’ continued admiration of them are these congressmen’s efforts these past two years of coronavirus pandemic. Despite very difficult circumstances, they moved heaven and earth to help their districts – food for the people, health and livelihood assistance, etc.
In other words, long before the official campaign period started, the work that they did these past two difficult years already served as their “campaign”. After all, this is what people want to see in their congressman – always working for the good of all.
So, good job, congressmen! Keep up the good work!
