NEXT HEALTH SECRETARY COULD BE FROM WV?

-

IT IS PUBLIC knowledge that two prominent doctor-politicians from Western Visayas campaigned very hard for presumptive President-elect Bongbong Marcos Jr. in the recent elections.

Ayon sa aming bubuwit, it is not far-fetched that either of these two doctors could be considered for a Cabinet portfolio, and specifically the Health department.

While VP Leni won in Western Visayas, Bongbong clearly won in Barotac Nuevo, the turf of doctor and now congressman again Ferj Biron, and in Guimbal, the bailiwick of reelected congresswoman Doc Inday Janette Garin.

Bongbong also won in the towns of Anilao, Sara and Estancia, and Passi City – certainly courtesy of the diligent campaign of Doc Ferj and Doc Janette.

And overall in the region, even if VP Leni won, it was not anymore a landslide victory for her unlike in the 2016 elections. This 2022 polls, it was a close fight in Western Visayas with BBM, and according to political pundits, this certainly mattered in the decisive nationwide victory of Bongbong.

Aside from being supporters of BBM, both Doc Ferj and Doc Janette are also highly qualified. In fact, Ferj is being dubbed as the “father” of the Cheaper Medicines Act of 2008, having authored this law that made medicines more affordable. On the other hand, Doc Janette already has a sterling Cabinet experience, having served as Health Secretary during the PNoy administration.

Having an Ilonggo for a Cabinet member would surely augur well for Iloilo, and Western Visayas in general. Mas damo grasya para sa Region 6 kun lapit sa luwag. Say mo, Congressman-elect Jojo? Inday Sharon “dies-dies” laughing!
