Kaya, United City in 2022 Copa finals

MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo made its way back to the finals after a 1-0 escape over Stallion-Laguna FC in the 2022 Copa Paulina Alcantara semifinals on Tuesday night at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

Daizo Horikoshi was the lone goal scorer for the Iloilo City-based football club as they moved to the championsh­ip match against United City Football Club on May 22.

The defending champions Kaya-Iloilo were aggressive in the opening half with early attempts from

Singapore in the finals, 28-33.

Filipino swimmers Chloe Isleta and Jessica Joy Geriane finished with silver and bronze medals, respective­ly, in the women’s 100m backstroke

event.

In fencing, the womens sabre team of Jylyn Nicanor, Queen Denise Dalmacio, Allaine Nicole Cortey, and Kemberly Camahalan and men’s foil team of Nathaniel Perez, Sammuel Tranquilan, Michael Nicanor, and Francis Felipe claimed bronzes.

Jamie Lim settled for a bronze medal finish in kumite i ndividual women’s 61- kg event, while golfers Lois Kaye Go, Rianne Malixi, and Mafy Singson also claimed a bronze in the women’s team event./
