ILOILO City – A police officer was arrested by colleagues in an anti- drug buy-bust operation yesterday on Aries Street, VML Subdivision, Barangay North Fundidor, Molo district.

The 40- year- old Police Staff Sergeant Igmedio Cristobal, a resident of Barangay Jereos, La Paz district, was assigned in the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (RPHAU). He was busted at 7:21 a.m.

The operation, staged by the PRO6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) led by Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca, yielded a total of 17 sachets of suspected shabu including the buy-bust item weighing 55 grams.

The total value of the confiscations reached P374,000.

Darroca said the suspect was placed under surveillance for weeks and a test-buy was also conducted.

Cristobal was formerly assigned at the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) – Mandurriao police station. He was transferred to RPHAU in 2016.

Cristobal was a member of the Regional Elections Monitoring Action Center (REMAC) .

He faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo got mad after learning about Cristobal’s case.

“The PRO- 6 leadership ay hindi nagkulang sa pagpaalala sa mga kapulisan to abide with the laws. But there are really hard- headed police personnel. They will face the consequences of their violations. We are not tolerating them kasi nakakasira ng ating departamento,” Dongbo said.

He also said Cristobal’s arrest should be considered as a warning to all the men and women of the PRO-6 that wrongful conduct won’t be tolerated./
