7 cops cited for Marawi siege stint

I LOILO City – Seven personnel of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) were conferred the Philippine National Police’s ( PNP) Order of Lapu- lapu, Rank of Kamagi for their contributi­ons to the liberation of Marawi City from the Maute terrorist group in 2017.

The awarding was held in Camp Delgado here on May 23.

The recipients of the Order of Lapu-lapu, Rank of Kamagi were the following: * Police Colonel Mary Leocy Magabo – Regional Forensic Unit 6 * Police Lieutenant Ali Bustamante – Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 * P o l i c e L i e u t e n a n t Romulo Mangili – Regional Maritime Unit 6 ( RMU6) * Police Master Sergeant Rachodson Bagares – Guimaras * Police Staff Sergeant Reymond Milo – Aklan * Police Staff Sergeant Rolando Lumawag – Iloilo * Police Corporal Harry M Gentuya – RMU6

“C o n g r a t u l a t i o n s t o all our awardees. Your performanc­e bespeaks of your profession­alism, commitment and dedication to duty,” said Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, PRO-6 director.

The Marawi siege forced more than 350,000 people to flee the city, many walking 40 kilometers to Iligan City.

The Order of Lapu-lapu was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 35 signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on July 28, 2017.

It is conferred in recognitio­n of the exemplary services rendered by officials and personnel of the government as well as private individual­s, in significan­tly advancing a campaign or advocacy of the President, particular­ly acts of valor and kindness described as extraordin­ary acts of service and exceptiona­l contributi­on to the country.

“May your good deeds inspire our fellow police officers to always give their best to the Filipino people,” Dongbo told the awardees.

On the other hand, the Rank of Kamagi is one of the four ranks comprising the Order of Lapu-lapu. The other three are Rank of Kalasag, Rank of Kampilan and Rank of Magalong.

The Rank of Kamagi is awarded to officials of the government and personnel as well as private individual­s who actively participat­ed in and contribute­d significan­tly to an activity pursuant to a campaign or advocacy of the President.

Meanwhile, PRO- 6 also awarded Medalya ng Papuri or PNP Commendati­on Medal to the following personnel for their significan­t and valuable contributi­ons to the successful and peaceful conduct of the May 9, 2022 elections:
