PBBM ORDERS CONTINUATION OF HEALTH WORKERS’ COVID ALLOWANCE

-

GOOD NEWS to healthcare workers.

Prez BBM yesterday ordered the Department of Health (DOH) to ensure that healthcare workers will continue receiving their allowances despite the expiration of the state of calamity declared in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state of calamity expired on Dec. 31, 2022.

“Tuloy-tuloy ‘yan... Inaalala ko dati na hindi matutuloy ang compensation para sa ating health workers…‘ Yung allowance nila pinag-aralan namin nang mabuti. Kahit hindi itinutuloy ang state of calamity ay hindi maapektuhan ang pagbayad doon sa ating mga health workers ng kanilang mga benefits,” says Prez BBM.

Indeed, this is good news. Indi mauntat ang COVID-19 allowance sang mga healthcare workers.

However, Mr. President, the discontinuance of the allowance is not the primary worry of healthcare workers in Iloilo province. Ang dako nila ya nga problema is the inordinate delay in the release of their COVID-19 allowance, especially the vaccinators.

Pwerte kadugay kuno. Binulan nga indi ma- release. Haslo!

Why is this grave injustice happening to healthcare workers in Iloilo province? They work day and night, exposing themselves to possible infection. Why are they being treated shabbily?

Worse, DOH – Region 6 cannot even give the health workers a decent explanation for the unwarranted delay of their COVID-19 allowance. Tonto!

DOH-6 should double-time – quadruple-time even – in processing the healthcare workers’ COVID-19 allowance. Indi mag-uyaya. Doble kayod dapat.

Say mo, Direk Suba-an?
