Ravelo family wants Daniel Padilla to play Captain Barbell
WITH Mars Ravelo’s “Darna” series now on its last two-week run, Pinoys have been clamoring for more projects featuring iconic characters by the late comic book artist like the mermaid Dyesebel and superheroes Captain Barbell and Lastikman.
During the recent finale presscon for “Darna,” members of the Ravelo family were present and all praises for ABS-CBN’s current fantaserye.
“Talagang malaki ang ginawa ng ABS-CBN. Malaking tulong. Talagang maganda ang pagkakagawa compared sa others. Siyempre, the best. So far, the best, number one talaga ‘yung ‘Darna,’” said Roberta Ravelo, daughter of Darna creator
Mars Ravelo.
She also said it was not an issue with their family that ABSCBN decided to remake “Darna” into a TV series instead of a movie like initially planned.
“Okay lang kasi ang pelikula parang mahina ngayon, ‘di ba? Usually, puro TV na ngayon ang mga tao eh,” she added.
During the Darna Super mediacon, it was also revealed that there is a possibility of Ravelo’s other works to be remade by the Kapamilya network in the future, as revealed by Roberta.
“‘ Captain Barbell’ or ‘ Lastikman,’ sana ‘ yun nga. Pero ‘yun nga, sabi nila either ‘Dyesebel’ or ‘Captain Barbell.’
Kaya lang ang ‘Dyesebel’ limited lang ang story nun eh, sa ilalim lang ng tubig ‘yun eh (laughs),” she said.
When asked which actors they were hoping would bring to life the fantasy characters onscreen someday, Roberta shared which Star Magic artist were her top picks.
“Ang gusto ko sanang lumabas si Daniel Padilla at saka si Kathryn (Bernardo). ‘ Di ba magandang love team ‘ yun? Malaki ang maitutulong nila sa ‘Captain Barbell.’ Sa ‘Dyesebel’ si Janella (Salvador) sana. Kasi mahaba ang katawan niya at binti, ganun. Sa ‘ Lastikman’ wala pa. Comedy ‘yun eh,” she admitted.
