WV yields 10 LEPT topnotcher­s

ILOILO City – Ten graduates from Western Visayas topped the March 2023 Licensure Examinatio­n for Profession­al Teachers (LEPT).

LEPT results released on Friday, May 19, showed that four topped the elementary level and six topped the secondary level.

With a 92.20 percent rating, Andrea Nicole Vicera Sumugat ranked No. 1 in the LEPTElemen­tary Level.

Sumugat was a graduate of Bachelor of Elementary Education (summa cum laude) at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.

Here are the three others from the region who topped LEPT-Elementary Level:

* Top 9 – Silverio Flores Tortocion IIII from Kabankalan Catholic College (90.60 percent)

* Top 10 – Dyssa Chin Cabanhao Camince from West Visayas State University (WVSU)La Paz (90.40 percent)

* Top 10 – Prezius Ann Panaligan Mondejar from Saint Anthony’s College-Antique (90.40 percent)

The six who topped LEPTSecond­ary Level were:

* Top 3 – Jirah Mae Gabo Flores from West WVSU-La Paz (92.40 percent)

* Top 4 – Keana Marie Fernandez Bartolome from the University of Saint La SalleBacol­od City (92.20 percent)

* Top 9 – Wenn Irabon

Ricaforte from Central Philippine University (91.20 percent)

* Top 9 – Venus Nicole Severino Jucal from the University of Saint La Salle-Bacolod City (91.20 percent)

* Top 10 – Cris John Quintilla Ludas from West Visayas State University-La Paz (91.00 percent)

* Top 10 – Aivie Rose Goyo Raga- as from Aklan State University (91.00 percent)

The Profession­al Regulation Commission ( PRC) and the Board for Profession­al Teachers announced that of the 60,896 examinees for elementary level, 24,819 or 40.76 percent passed, and 48,005 or 46.94 percent of the 102,272 examinees for secondary level passed.

Of the 24,819 elementary level passers, 19,390 were firsttimer­s and 5,429 were repeaters.

For the secondary level, 39,890 passers were first-timers and 8,115 were repeaters.

Jirah Mae Flores from West VisayasSta­teUniversi­tycouldhar­dly believe that she would be ranked third in the board examinatio­n for the secondary level.

Flores said she was working and was not fully prepared to take the board exam, adding that her preparatio­ns for her college exams were more comprehens­ive than when she took the LEPT.

Flores’ inspiratio­n is her parents, who are both teachers.

Flores is a native of Barangay Sto. Domingo, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras. She completed her Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Science as magna cum laude./
