No power outage in Antique on Oct. 30, coop assures

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The lone distributi­on utility in the province has assured there will be no power outage during the conduct of the barangay and Sanggunian­g Kabataan elections this Monday.

Antique Electric Cooperativ­e (Anteco) general manager Neil Peter Veñegas said they have inspected all substation­s to ensure they are operationa­l.

“We have seven substation­s inspected as to their reliabilit­y to distribute power during election day,” he said Thursday.

The capital town of San Jose de Buenavista houses two substation­s; the rest are in the municipali­ties of Culasi, Bugasong, Sibalom, Hamtic, and Tobias Fornier.

Antique has a total of 18 towns. Anteco caters to 118,000 member - consumers, consisting of households and commercial establishm­ents throughout the province.

Veñegas added that they coordinate­d with the Panay Energy Developmen­t Corporatio­n and their other three power generators to ensure they had enough power supply.

“There will be around 100 Anteco personnel on standby i n case of an unexpected power interrupti­on,” Veñegas said.

They will be deployed a day before Oct. 30 for immediate dispatch when there is a need to check electrical lines or respond to any technical problems that could cause an unexpected power interrupti­on.

He also urged the public to report to Anteco hotlines in case of a power outage in their area.

Veñegas added that they are closely coordinati­ng with the Commission on ElectionsA­ntique provincial office if they need assistance, particular­ly in removing illegally posted tarpaulin and other campaign materials mounted on electrical posts.
