No power outage in Antique on Oct. 30, coop assures

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The lone distribution utility in the province has assured there will be no power outage during the conduct of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections this Monday.

Antique Electric Cooperative (Anteco) general manager Neil Peter Veñegas said they have inspected all substations to ensure they are operational.

“We have seven substations inspected as to their reliability to distribute power during election day,” he said Thursday.

The capital town of San Jose de Buenavista houses two substations; the rest are in the municipalities of Culasi, Bugasong, Sibalom, Hamtic, and Tobias Fornier.

Antique has a total of 18 towns. Anteco caters to 118,000 member - consumers, consisting of households and commercial establishments throughout the province.

Veñegas added that they coordinated with the Panay Energy Development Corporation and their other three power generators to ensure they had enough power supply.

“There will be around 100 Anteco personnel on standby i n case of an unexpected power interruption,” Veñegas said.

They will be deployed a day before Oct. 30 for immediate dispatch when there is a need to check electrical lines or respond to any technical problems that could cause an unexpected power interruption.

He also urged the public to report to Anteco hotlines in case of a power outage in their area.

Veñegas added that they are closely coordinating with the Commission on ElectionsAntique provincial office if they need assistance, particularly in removing illegally posted tarpaulin and other campaign materials mounted on electrical posts.
