Hobe Bihon-Taguig cops fifth leg title

JEMAL VIZCARRA provided the scoring punch as Hobe BihonTagui­g City nipped Ascof Lagundi, 91-88, to cop the fifth leg championsh­ip of the Tournament of the Philippine­s yesterday at the Emilio Aguinaldo College gym in Manila.

Vizcarra, a former UST hotshot, drilled 10 of his 16 points in the final quarter, including a clutch triple that gave Taguig a 90-86 advantage with only 12 seconds remaining.

Harold Sta. Cruz also powered Taguig with a game-high 19 points on top of 15 rebounds and two steals.

“The boys deserved this win because they really worked hard for it, hopefully we can keep this momentum aswe head for Cebu,” said Taguig coach Bing Victoria.

Eric dela Cuesta and Ariel de Castro also delivered 17 points each for Taguig, which earned 12 points in the leg.

MP Pacman Gensan clinched third place after slipping past Cobra, 70-69, in the first game of the tournament jointly organized by the PBL and Liga Pilipinas.

John Gonzaga nailed a buzzerbeat­er from 18 feet to seal Gensan’s upset of the Ironmen, the second leg champions.
