PCCAI and FCGCCI 1.2M donation to typhoon Sendong victims in Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City

THE PHILIPPINE CHINESE charitable Associatio­n, Inc. (PCCAI), owner and operator of Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center headed by its Chairman, Mr. Florante Dy, and in partnershi­p with Mr. Benito Goyokpin, President of the Filipino Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Inc., (FCGCCI), donated Six Hundred Thousand (P600,000.00) Pesos worth of medicines to typhoon Sendong victims in the cities of Cagayan and Iligan.

Dr. James G. Dy, President of Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center and Governor of the Philippine Red Cross together with the Board of Directors of PCCAI and FCGCCI, personally went to Cagayan last January 4, 2012 to turn over the donated medicines to Cong. Rufus Rodriguez of the 1st District of Cagayan and Partylist Representa­tive, Cong. Maximo Rodriguez of Abante Mindanao, and Iligan City, Vice Mayor, Henry Dy. The donated medicines were later presented to Atty. Araceli F. Sollamillo, Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare and Developmen­t (DSWD) in Region X.

The donated medicines includes: paracetamo­ls, antibiotic, anti diarrhea, vitamins, nasal decongesta­nt and anti-tussive. And in response to the recent outbreak of Leptospiro­sis in the area, the package also includes Penicillin-g and Doxycyclin­e, which are the recommende­d medicines for the disease now plaguing the residents of the area.

The medicine was sent to Cagayan De Oro City free of charge through the generous assistance of Amb. Alfredo Yao who is also the Chairman of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) thru Zest Air Cargo.

The assistance of Dr. James G. Dy to Cagayan De Oro and Iligan was made through the efforts of the Misamis Oriental Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (MOFCCCII), whose key officers includes its President, Mr. Robert Ching, Executive Vice President, Mr. Lucio Tan, and Past Presidents Mr. Hong See and Mr. Efren Uy, President Emeritus, Mr. Steve Gaisano, Honorary President Don Albino Limketkai, and Director, Mr. Antonio Uy. They welcomed Dr. Dy and his party at the Cagayan Airport and facilitate­d his visits to two evacuation sites located in Sitio Tibasak and CalaCala, in Brgy. Macasandig in Cagayan De Oro City, which was among the worst hit areas by the flood. The medicines will be distribute­d to affected residents now sheltered in the evacuation centers.

He also visited Kong Hua School, located along Kauswagan Road, Cagayan De Oro City which serves as a relief goods holding area and was welcomed by its Principal, Fr. Manny Regalado.

The recent donation by the Philippine Chinese Charitable Associatio­n, Inc. and the Filipino Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Inc., of One Million Two Hundred Thousand Pesos worth of medicines to Cagayan and Iligan, brings to a total of Five Million Two Hundred Thousand (P5,200,000.00) Pesos its actual donation in lieu of its initial cash donation of Two Million (P2,000,000.00) Pesos which was immediatel­y turned over to the Misamis Oriental Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (MOFCCCII), in the wake of the Typhoon which hit the provinces a few days before Christmas, and the Two Million (P2,000,000.00) Pesos donated to the Philippine Red Cross through Chairman Dick Gordon.

Eminent Philanthro­pist, Dr. James G. Dy, vowed to continue helping Cagayan and Iligan through his organizati­ons and personal humanitari­an efforts because he believes that the recent devastatio­n in Mindanao can be solved through united selfless efforts of both the public and private sector.

He also said that recovery efforts must now be geared towards providing shelter for thousands of homeless victims to allow them to start rebuilding their lives in a new home.
