Passing of torch at Concepcion Industries
THE PASSING passing of the corporate torch from the first to the second and now the third generation of the Concepcion family has taken place with the assumption of Raul Joseph (Jojo) Concepcion as Concepcion Industries Inc. president and concurrent Concepcion Carrier Airconditioning Co. president.
It was outgoing Concepcion Industries president Raul (Ronnie) Concepcion, himself, who made the announcement during the 50th founding anniversary rites of the firm founded by the late family patriarch Jose Concepcion Sr. in 1962 to locally manufacture refrigerators, air conditioners and other home and industrial appliances.
Ronnie will, however, remain board chair with twin brother Jose Jr. and sister Mely as board members.
Other members of the third generation who have assumed top positions at the corporate ladder of several Concepcionled firms are Renna Hechanova Angeles, Concepcion Industries director and Concepcion Durables vice chair; Raul Anthony (Ton) Concepcion, Concepcion Industries director and Concepcion Durables president; Rafael Concepcion Hechanova Jr., Concepcion Carrier sales and marketing vice president; Raul Stephen (Robie) Concepcion, Concepcion Industries group finance vice president; and Raul Patrick Concepcion, Concepcion Industries service and customer relations vice president.
“Since its founding 50 years ago, Concepcion Industries has emerged as the top appliance firm in the Philippines. With trusted brands like Carrier, Condura, Kelvinator and Contel in its fold, Concepcion Industries was initially propelled by my late grandfather’s vision which my father pursued with tenacity that brought us to where we are now,” Jojo says as he paid tribute to the his predecessors.
He further says “the seeds that my late grandfather—then my father—had planted in the early days are now being harvested by the present generation. We view this as a great opportunity not to be wasted but as inspiration for us to strive harder and move forward through our combined efforts in meeting new challenges in the competitive world of high technology.”
