ICTSI jungolf summer tour tees off in Baguio

-

BAGUIO—THE ICTSI Jungolf Summer Circuit kicks off today with the first of 10 events, dubbed as the ICTSI Baguio Country Club Junior Open, at the compact but tricky Baguio Country Club here.

Metro Manila aces will mix it up with players from this city and nearby provinces in the short 36-hole tournament signaling the start of a long summer tour that will bring local jungolfers to the country’s most exclusive courses as far south as Cebu.

Apart from ICTSI, the summer circuit organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines also enjoys the support of INQUIRER Golf, Pancake House, Teriyaki Boy, Sizzlin’ Pepper, Philippine Airlines, Duty Free Philippines, Mcdonald’s, Golf Depot, Pioneer Insurance, Pacsports, Julies Bakeshop, and B Hotel.

The Baguio leg gives players spending the Lenten break with their families at the summer capital a chance to warm up for the bigger tournaments ahead, including the Jungolf Interclub on April 11 to 13 at the sprawling Eagle Ridge in Cavite.

The posh Baguio Country Club course provides a test of accuracy with its rolling terrain, narrow fairways and greens that even some of the country’s best amateurs find hard to conquer in its annual hosting of the Fil-am championships.

Players will vie for top honors in the following age-groups: Class A (15-17 years), Class B (13-14), Class C (11-12), Class D (9-10), Class E (7-8) and Class F (6 years and under).
