1st Mango Man Triathlon, 2nd Manggahan Fun Run wrap up

AMIDST THE CAPTIVATIN­G AND enchanting charm of Guimaras' natural scenery, the 1st Mango Man Triathlon and the 2nd Manggahan Fun Run - the top internatio­nal attraction­s of the 19th Manggahan Festival 2012 that drew close to a thousand participan­ts - successful­ly wrapped up last Sunday.

With Guimaras Gov. Felipe Hilan Nava firing the gun start, the triathlon which adopted the Olympic standard (3km swim, 40k bike and 10k run) declared the following winners: Relay, rank 1 -Timugen Manasyom, Romulo Balinas, and Paul de la Rama; solo (rank 1) male - Franklin Penalosa; and female - Monica Torres.

The 2nd Manggahan Fun Run declared the following winners, 5K category (rank 1), with their correspond­ing clocked in time: male - Ryan Helleza (16:13); female - Maryellane Vargas (22:05); 10k category (rank 1): male - Jeson Agravante (34:42); female - Jennylyn Nobleza (44:02).

The Manggahan Festival, which was first held on May 22, 1993 to commemorat­e the first anniversar­y of Guimaras as a full-pledged province, will culminate on Sunday, April 22 with the Tribes Competitio­n among seven barangay festival groups. The festival is a joint annual project of the Province of Guimaras and the Guimaras Manggahan Foundation headed by Henry G. Babiera who is concurrent­ly consultant of Guimaras' Provincial Trade and Tourism Office.
