Learn the new global shipping and trade terms

-

TO HELP the public understand changes in shipping terms for land, air and sea, Center for Global Best Practices, with International Chamber of Commerce, will hold the seminar on “New Incoterms: The International Rules in the Interpretation of Trade Terms” on July 4 at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City.

The MCLE-accredited seminar is designed to teach participants the new Incoterms for international trade transactions that are now in force globally.

The new shipping terms have tremendous impact on trade documentation and critical implications for businesses, especially in the carriage of goods, export and import clearance requirements, allocation of costs between seller and buyer, cargo insurance and assumption of risks for loss and damage.

The new concise Incoterms are supposed to be more relevant to business transactions security issues.

Resource person is Singapore-based Victor Tan, an authority in trading and banking, with 15 years of banking experience covering areas of international trade finance, remittances, guarantees, import and export. He has worked with various international banks and has been conducting specialized training in Jakarta, Indonesia; Bangkok, Thailand; and Singapore. Tan, who has a Master of Business Administration degree and is a life associate member of Chartered Institute of Bankers, London, will teach how to use Incoterms to one’s business advantage.

Preregistration is required as seats are limited. Discounts are available for early birds and groups of at least three. Lawyers will earn MCLE credits.
