GLORIA Lucero-Monzon, the last surviving founder of Sigma Delta Phi, the oldest sorority of the University of the Philippine­s, died on July 6 at the age of 101. Since cofounding the society in 1933, she has produced four generation­s of Lucero-Monzons as Sigma Deltans, including granddaugh­ter Bea Lucero, daughters Bee and the late Patsy Monzon.

The sorority will say farewell to its founder and charter member through the traditiona­l final rites starting at 8 p.m. at the Acacia Room of Funeraria Paz at the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Parañaque. Expected to lead the tribute is INQUIRER columnist Winnie Collas Monsod. All Sigma Deltans are invited to attend.

Burial is scheduled on July 12 after a 9 a.m. Mass.
