Tamaraws chosen Tayocampers
THE SCHOOL of Nutrition of the Philippine Women’s University joins the country in celebrating the 2012 Nutrition Month with the theme “Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin araw-araw itong ihain” on July 18 at 9 a.m. at the Conrado Benitez Hall, Taft campus, Manila.
PWU president Dr. Francisco Benitez and dean Dr. Leonora Panlasigui will officially open the event consisting of a food bazaar, photo exhibits, nutrition clinic and performances in songs and dances revolving on the theme “Kulay, Gulay at Awitin” by the School of Music and the Philippine Bayanihan National Dance Company.
On July 20 to 21, an off-campus seminar organized by the School of Nutrition will be held at the Mariano Marcos State University in Batac, Ilocos Norte.
A project of the Phil. Council of Health Research and Development (PCHRD) of the Dept. of Science and Technology with the Mariano Mar- cos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, the seminar aims to “revisit, inform and educate the public on the production and consumption of local vegetables and fruits and its health implications.”
Invited speakers are Dr. Jaime Montoya (PCHRD), Dr. Jocelyn Eusebio (DOST), Dr. Evelyn Rodriguez (UPLP), Menisa Antonio, Len Arzadon and dean Panlasigui who will talk on “Vegetables for the Growing Population Revisited.” THREE student leaders from Far Eastern University’s (FEU) were selected to join the 1st Ten Accomplished Youth Organization (TAYO) Summer Youth Camp held recently at the CamSur WaterSports Complex in Naga City, Camarines Sur. Cliff Kevin Cendeña, VP of the Far Eastern University Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance (IABF) student council, Marjon Alcisto, business manager of the Political Science and International Studies Society, and Jedda Punzalan, chamber director of the Humanitarian Aid-Tamaraw Volunteers were part of the 120 participants from different youth organizations across the Philippines who attended the three-day event. Celebrating TAYO’s 10th year anniversary and a first of its kind in the country, the camp gathered youth leaders to discuss the issues of the day in fun, creative, and dynamic ways.
