- By Marlet Salazar

CHERRYMobile recently launched its affordable smartphones Flare and Titan further intensifying the consumer electronics competition. The mobile phone manufacturer is known to level the playing field by providing budget-conscious Filipinos with inexpensive phones that can go as low as P599.

With Cherry Mobile’s newest smartphones, Flare and Titan, people are more awed by its price range than the key features which aim to compete directly to the leading brands. The two new phones are touted to become the “dual core ng bayan.”

Flare is a dual-SIM, dual-standby smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual Core processor, each running at 1.2 gigahertz (GHz). With Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), Cherry Mobile promises consumers a refined user interface and access to thousands of available applications. Flare’s 4inch capacitive touch panel creates flawless navigation. Its suggested retail price, which shocked the people at the launch, was only P3,999.

Titan, on the other hand, has a larger display with its 5-inch capacitive touchscreen and powered by a 1.0 GHz dual core processor and also runs on Android OS 4.0.

“We have always wanted to bring value to our customers by making Android technology available to all Filipinos,” said Maynard Ngu, chief executive officer, Cherry Mobile. “The innovations on our Android smartphones af- firm our commitment to deliver high quality products at very reasonable prices.”

Flare and Titan have dual cameras with 5.0 megapixels main, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, 4 GB (gigabytes) of internal storage, and an expandable microSD card slot with a capacity of up to 32GB.

Both phones are pre-installed with the Opera Mini 7.5 browser.
