MONTEREY, a platinum awardee in the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand Awards, gave back the recognition it sowed for three consecutive years to the Department of Agriculture and its exemplary Monterey Neighborhood Meatshop franchisees at the recent launch of Monterey Know Your Meat Caravan Wave II under its annual award giving program, the Blade Awards.

Key to Monterey’s success is the franchise model that started in the 90’s. Through the years, Monterey’s franchisees have played a vital role in preserving Monterey’s standard of excellence. These are the front liners in providing excellent customer service, exuding exemplary sales performance bringing the Monterey brand closer than ever to consumers.

All awardees served as the paragon of spirit, passion and excellence most especially in execution. All of these characteristics were fused together exceeding what is expected from them with an ultimate goal of making a lasting impact to customers.

Blade Awards focus on six major categories which cover foods safety management, customer service, sales performance, product quality, compliance to standard operational procedures and store policies and active fresh rewards membership. All nominated franchisees are meticulously subjected to a grading system in accordance to Monterey’s superior standards.

“From the location, to presentation, to marketing and promotions, sales vary from season to season. But a great meatshop manages to keep its customers’ coming back as well as add new ones as a result of constantly improving services,” said Jong Jimenez, San Miguel Foods Inc. meats and poultry business national sales manager.

JTF 2 Meatshop bagged the 2011 Best Magnolia Chicken Station and Best in Sales awards while Archanghel’s Philam received the award for 2011 Best Fresh Rewards. RFAR Enterprise was named 2011 Rookie of the Year and MTZ Enterprises did not only win the Best in Quality assurance award but also coveted Top Blade title.

Top executives of food conglomerate San Miguel Foods Inc. hope that the Blade Awards will inspire all the other franchisees to raise their bar of excellence.

Monterey’s long standing commitment to serve and deliver quality meats and its success being the first and only choice of consumers in the market are by-products of its partnership with the Department of Agriculture as Monterey Know Your Meat Caravan Wave I worked side by side with the National Meat Inspection Service’s (NMIS) campaign, “Chilled meat is fresh… Chilled meat is safe” last year. The campaign visited many areas considering the breadth and depth of Monterey’s operation teaching communities about proper meat selection, safety and storage.

To honor its partnership with the Department of Agriculture, San Miguel Pure Foods company president Francisco Alejo III handed over a Certificate of Recognition to Department of Agriculture Assistant Secretary Davinio Catbagan as a token of appreciation for its unwavering support to Monterey’s widely successful advocacy campaign.

San Miguel Foods Inc. president Rita Imelda “Tatish” Palabyab and vice president and general manager Dr. Leo Obviar also graced the event.
