Media men, celebs to give cancer-stricken kids a V-day treat

ON VALENTINE’S Day tomorrow, civicminde­d celebritie­s, including media men, will spend time to cheer up cancer-stricken children at the Tahan-Tahanan facility of East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) in Quezon City.

The special program is part of the second year anniversar­y celebratio­n of TahanTahan­an—a halfway home for pediatric cancer patients from 0 to 20 years old who live in far-flung areas outside Metro Manila.

Comedienne Beverly Salviejo, newshen Barbie Atienza and civic leader Stauro Punongbaya­n of the Rotary Club of Midtown Diliman will cohost the event.

Among the media guests are the INQUIRER’S Fe Zamora and Mandy Navasero, GMA 7’s Kara David, TV5’s Luchi Cruz-Valdez and Niki Soriano of ABS-CBN Film Production­s.

Artist Simkin de Pio will conduct a simple sketching art activity for the sick children.

Other celebritie­s expected to attend are last year’s Bb. Pilipinas 2nd runner-up Ali Forbes, 2001 Bb. Pilipinas Internatio­nal Maricarl C. Tolosa, singer Christine Ledesma, model Nicole Donesa and 2012 Cinema One Originals best actor awardee Alex Vincent Medina (veteran actor Pen Medina’s son).

Tahan-Tahanan is being supported by the Philippine Charity Sweepstake­s Office (PCSO), Kapisanan ng May K sa Pilipinas (KMKP) and volunteers from all walks of life—the academe, artists, social workers and housewives, among others. dom with 123 single hits. He has also conceived and starred in the stage musical “Heathcliff” (written by Sir Tim Rice and Australian John Farrar), which played to audiences of more than half a million.

‘Boeing Boeing’ on stage

Repertory Philippine­s’ 46th season opens with three gorgeous internatio­nal flight attendants in “Boeing Boeing.”

Giannina Ocampo is lovely as the Sophia Loren-ish Italian Gabriella, Carla Dunareanu is outlandish as the über German Gretchen and Jen Bianco is lusty as the American Gloria.

Winner of the 2008 Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for best revival of a play, “Boeing Boeing” (by Marc Camoletti and translated from the original ’60s-set French play by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans) is directed by Miguel Faustmann.
